Hello everyone! My name is Allie Skaggs, and over the next few months I’m going to take you along with me for our Arizona Softball season. A little introduction to me: I am a senior second baseman for the Wildcats, and have spent my entire career at the U of A! I was born in Tucson, but grew up in Louisville, Kentucky. I started playing softball when I was five years old, and can’t believe it’s already my last collegiate season! There have been so many great memories throughout my career that I’ll end up sharing in my weekly columns, and can’t wait to take you along with me.
Outside of softball, I love playing other sports! Pickleball and tennis are two of my favorite things to play. I also enjoy doing puzzles, watching The Office, and journaling. Which leads me to my current major, which is Journalism! I enjoy telling stories, but my favorite way to do that is through video. Video content creation is one of my favorite things to do and would love to find a career in it after I am done playing softball. I also enjoy giving lessons to younger players, and want to continue that after my career too. Giving back to the community is really important to me and I’m thankful I get to write a weekly column to keep all of you in the loop with my life!
Another thing I care deeply about is mental health. I will be sharing more about this later on, but I think it’s incredibly important for people to understand that it is okay to get help if you feel like you need it. We are encouraged to take care of our bodies when we are feeling sore or are injured, and I believe it’s just as important to take care of our minds. There should be no shame in getting help!
So excited about this opportunity to share with you all this spring. Be ready to get a lot of softball, school, and life updates here every week! Looking forward to sharing more with you all soon.
