Former Ironwood Ridge volleyball standout Rumur Rouille was one of eight athletes named to the NEC Scholar Athlete list. A Sports Communication & Marketing major at Long Island, Rouille has appeared on the NEC Academic and Commissioner’s Honor Roll three straight years and was tabbed to the CSC Academic All-District team. She has posted a 3.94 cumulative grade point average.
Former Sahuarita wrestler Isaiah Miller was named GPAC Freshman of the Year wrestling for Jamestown. He was also First Team All-Conference after winning the 133-pound division at the GPAC championships.
Pima freshman Jazmyne Waddell (San Manuel) was named ACCAC Division I Player of the Week. Waddell went 1 for 4 with a double and an RBI for the Aztecs to help them to a 10-5 win and a sweep of Phoenix last week.
This list will be updated all year in an effort to recognize all former local prep stars who have gone on to win either academic and/or athletic awards at the next level.
