Tianna Moseley & April Necaise earn fourth-place finishes at NJCAA indoor nationals

The Pima Community College women’s track & field team closed out competition at the NJCAA Indoor National Championships on Saturday at the Alachua Sports and Events Center in Gainesville, Fla., with two of its athletes earning fourth-place finishes.

Sophomore Tianna Moseley earned fourth in the triple jump with a closing mark of 12.03 meters (39-feet, 5.75-inches). She earned five team points for the Aztecs.

Freshman April Necaise came away with a fourth-place finish in the high jump as she set a personal-record with a jump of 1.67 meters (5-5.75). She secured five team points.

The No. 20 Aztecs finished tied for 16th place in the final team standings with 14 points.

Moseley, Necaise and freshman Maylee Thompson (Friday’s fifth-place finisher in the pentathlon) all earned NJCAA All-American honors with their finishes in their respective events.

Other finishes from Saturday:

Roxy Christensen – 11th in triple jump 11.07 meters (36-4)

Annika Arvayo (Salpointe) – 16th in weight throw 14.08 meters (46-2.50)

The Aztecs will begin the outdoor season on March 14 at the Cody McBride Invitational held at Paradise Valley Community College in Phoenix.
