Gianna Pancost and Hailie Mann earned weekly RMAC Awards. (RMAC)

Former Tucson High standout Johnnie Blockburger (USC) was named Pac-12 Track Athlete of the Week after he won the men’s 200m at the 44 Farms Team Invitational at Texas A&M over the weekend. He Now leads the Pac-12 and ranks fourth in the country in the 200m.

Former Tucson High standout Trayvion White-Austin (Arizona) was named Pac-12 Track Athlete of the Week (March 26) after he won the men’s 100m at the Willie Williams Classic, clocking a lifetime-best time of 10.14. Broke Michael Bates’ 33-year-old school record in the event from 1991. Leads the Pac-12 and ranks fourth in the nation currently in the 100m.

Former Tucson High standout Carlie Scupin helped Arizona to a series win over Utah with a .400 batting average, two home runs, and five RBI. She was named Top Cat of the Week by Arizona Athletics.

Former Ironwood Ridge standout Andrew Cook (Colorado State Pueblo) was named to the National Football Foundation (NFF) Hampshire Honor Society the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame announced.

Former Sabino standout Gianna Pancost (Colorado-Colorado Springs) was named RMAC Softball Player of the Week. Pancost led her team in a 3-1 series win against Adams State as she started each of the team’s four games and posted a .750 batting average (9-for-12) with three doubles, one home run, and 10 RBI. The freshman also drew three walks in the series, bumping her on-base percentage to an incredible .800 as she reached base in 12 of her 15 plate appearances. Pancost was equally as impressive on the defensive side of the ball as she converted each of her 12 total defensive chances for a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage across 25 innings played at third base. After her outstanding weekend at the dish, Pancost leads the Mountain Lions in nearly every major offensive category, including batting average (.434), doubles (10), RBIs (20), and total bases (51).

Former Mountain View standout Hailie Mann (Ft. Lewis) was named RMAC Softball Pitcher of the Week. Mann was dominant for the Skyhawks over the weekend, as they battled against Metropolitan State of Denver. In her 14 innings pitched against the Roadrunners, Mann held them to just one unearned run after scattering 10 hits on the weekend. She worked through traffic on the basepaths in her two complete games but recorded seven strikeouts. The junior’s capped off an excellent weekend in the circle with a seven-inning shutout, holding MSU Denver scoreless for the first time this season. Up next for the Skyhawks is a visit to Spearfish, S.D. to face off against Black Hills State.

Former Salpointe standout Levi Padilla (Regis) was named RMAC Player of the Week nominee.

This list will be updated all year in an effort to recognize all former local prep stars who have gone on to win either academic and/or athletic awards at the next level. These are not high school awards but collegiate and professional recognitions. NOT CHAMPIONSHIPS.
