Former Arizona basketball (1921-24) and tennis standout Harold Tovrea led Southern Arizona Bank to a Tucson City championship in volleyball over Whirlwinds. Southern Arizona Bank went 20-1. The league also featured former Arizona baseball standout Chet Vasey and future Judge F.W. Fickett (Booth-Fickett School), Dick Drachman, George Richey, Leslie Albert Lohse, Walter Lovejoy (Encanto Estates)

Tovrea was a developer who brought us Pueblo Gardens, the Prince Addition (north of Amphitheater Middle School), Western Hills and the famous Eastmoor and Broadmoor subdivisions located north of Hi Corbett and the Baseball Annex. Tovrea was inducted into the Arizona Golf Association Hall Of Fame in 1968 and the University of Arizona Sports hall of Fame in 1987. He passed away in 1988.
