No. 4 Salpointe Catholic had home runs from Alma Garcia, Anyssa Wild, Jae Castillo and Jordan Goedel and ace Macee Jackson struck out 11 with no walks in the Lancers’ 8-3 win over No. 1 Mesa Eastmark in a 4A quarterfinal game Saturday at Phoenix’s Papago Softball Complex.

The Lancers (29-3) will next play in the semifinal round Thursday in Phoenix or potentially Tucson based on their next opponent.

They will face the elimination bracket matchup winner of Tuesday’s No. 7 Mica Mountain vs. No. 2 Phoenix Arcadia game at the Papago Softball Complex. The Thunderbolts and Titans will play at 6:30 p.m.

If Arcadia wins, the semifinal game will be at the Papago Softball Complex on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

If Mica Mountain wins, Salpointe and the Thunderbolts would likely play in the Tucson area Thursday because both teams are from Southern Arizona.

Wild, an Arizona signee, started the home run barrage with a solo shot in the second inning. Garcia followed with her solo home run in the third.

Castillo’s two-run home run in the fifth built the lead to 5-0.

Leading 5-2 heading into the top of the seventh, the Lancers added three insurance runs on an RBI double by Castillo and two-run homer by Goedel.

Jackson (7-1, 0.79 ERA) closed the complete-game performance scattering eight hits.

Castillo, a BYU signee, went 2 for 3 with a double, home run, two runs and three doubles.

Leadoff batter Taiya Texiera was 2 for 4 with two runs.
