Former Sahuarita and Pima standout Ian Mejia tossed a 7-inning no-hitter for the Mississippi Braves on Friday. Mejia (4-0; 1.69 era) was a redshirt freshman for the University of Arizona in 2019 before moving over to Pima in 2020 where he went 2-0 in the short season. He made the WAC All-Tournament Team for New Mexico State after Pima and he was selected in the 11th Round (335th) by the Atlanta Braves.
The Mississippi Braves (M-Braves) is the Class-AA of the Atlanta Braves and the team competes in the Southern League where Mejia has earned three Pitcher of the Week honors so far this season.
Mejia gave up two walks and he struck out 11 batters in the 2-0 victory over the Biloxi Shuckers.
