Cardiac Cats do it again — Arizona beats USC with walk-off win to earn last Pac-12 tourney title

Tommy Splaine’s single to left field with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning scored Emilio Corona with the winning run in Arizona’s 4-3 victory over USC at Scottsdale Stadium on Saturday night in the Pac-12 tournament championship — the last in history.

It was the Cardiac Cats’ eighth walk-off win this season.

Arizona (36-21) is the Pac-12 regular-season and conference tournament champion — an accomplishment that should earn the Wildcats the opportunity to be one of the 16 host schools for next week’s regional round of the NCAA tournament.

The NCAA Tournament Selection Show is Monday at 9 a.m. on ESPN.

Salpointe graduate Mason White, who had two moonshoot home runs in the tournament, was selected the Most Outstanding Player.

More to come from Saturday night’s game from AllSportsTucson.com’s Lori Burkhart and Kevin Murphy.
