Marana junior Malaysia Roebuck, the Jet Sports Training September Female Athlete of the Month, continues to draw meaningful accolades.

Roebuck is the first player from Southern Arizona to earn an Arizona High School Flag Football Player of the Year Award nomination medallion following her performance last week.

She gained 109 yards on six catches with two touchdowns while adding three tackles, two pass breakups and an interception in Marana’s 35-0 win over Valley Vista.

The Arizona Sports & Entertainment Commission (ASEC) and its managed entity, the Grand Canyon State Gridiron Club (GCSGC), are determining the recipients of the mediallions.

They also manage the Ed Doherty Award for tackle-football players.

“We’re excited to formally recognize our first group of athletes competing in flag football as nominees for this award,” said Rob Yowell, selection committee co-chair, in a press release. “The growth of the game in Arizona and the effort these girls have demonstrated show they deserve this stage. Congratulations to our Week Four players, the first of many to be honored throughout the season and for years to come.”

Roebuck, sister of Marana senior standout receiver Dezmen Roebuck, will be presented her medallion at Marana.
