AIA Power Ratings: Marana still tops Open Division; Mica Mountain climbs to No. 3 in 4A

Update: Marana (10-0 overall and 5A Southern champs at 5-0) remains the No. 1 team in the Open Division in the fifth and final release of the power ratings by the AIA on Tuesday. The Open Division bracket will be announced Saturday morning. The Tigers are the top overall program in the state, still atop 6A Phoenix-area powerhouse programs Chandler Basha (No. 2 at 8-1), Peoria Liberty (No. 4 at 8-1) and ALA-Queen Creek (No. 5 at 8-1). … Marana’s lofty rating is based on victories over Salpointe, Gilbert Higley, Buena and Tucson High. …. Tucson High is No. 15 in the Open Division and No. 5 in 5A while Ironwood Ridge is No. 16 in the Open Division and No. 6 in 5A. … Marana’s regular season is over. The Tigers are 1.2 power-points ahead of No. 2 Basha. The Bears conclude their regular season against No. 13 Perry, which is 5-4. That means the Tigers will likely finish No. 1 in the Open Division without having to play this Friday. … Salpointe, at No. 15 in the Open Division last week, is not listed among the top 16.
