No. 9 Walden Grove ends historic run with loss at No. 1 Yuma Catholic

No. 9 Walden Grove, coming off its first postseason win in program history, finished its season 8-4 with Friday’s 28-13 loss at No. 1 Yuma Catholic in the 4A quarterfinals.

Walden Grove’s program started in 2012. Corey Noble, in his eighth season as head coach, has now led the Red Wolves to five playoff appearances. They defeated No. 8 Phoenix Northwest Christian 30-20 in a first-round game last week for their first playoff win.

The Shamrocks (11-1) will host No. 4 Mica Mountain (12-0) on Friday at 7 p.m. in the 4A semifinals.

The Thunderbolts defeated No. 5 Phoenix Thunderbird 38-14 in a quarterfinal game on Friday night.
