
Arizona rallied for two runs in the top of the seventh inning on a sacrifice fly by Kaiah Altmeyer and an RBI single by Reagan Shockey to beat Loyola Marymount 7-6 in Los Angeles on Wednesday.
The 10th-ranked Wildcats (16-2) recorded 12 hits, led by Paige Dimler, who went 3 for 4.
Altmeyer had three RBIs and Shockey, Jenna Sniffen and Sydney Stewart each tallied two hits.
After LMU struck first with a three-run home run in the first inning, the Wildcats answered back with three runs in the top of the second to tie the game.
Tayler Biehl drove in the first run with a single up the middle and Altmeyer doubled to score Biehl and Sniffen.
After two scoreless innings, the Lions took a 6-3 lead on pair of RBI groundouts and an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth.
The Wildcats cut into LMU’s lead in the top of the fifth to make it 6-5.
Stewart hit a solo homer to lead off the inning and Sniffen drove in Arizona’s second run of the inning with an RBI single.
In the top of the seventh, Altmeyer drove in her third run of the game with a sacrifice fly and Shockey singled to send Biehl home from second base to take the lead.
Devyn Netz picked up her seventh win of the season in the circle, pitching 3 1/3 innings in relief and striking out four batters to keep LMU scoreless after the fourth inning.
Miranda Stoddard pitched the first 3 2/3 innings before Netz entered the circle.
Arizona will next head to Cal State Fullerton for the Judi Garman Classic beginning Friday
The Wildcats will face Weber State, Fullerton, Notre Dame, UCLA, and San Diego State in the three-day tournament.
