No. 11 Arizona held Utah scoreless in a 3-0 win over the Utes to sweep the series on Sunday.

Arizona head coach Caitlin Lowe praised how Arizona’s three pitchers on Sunday controlled the game and kept each other in favorable positions, something she said was lacking in Saturday’s 8-6 win over the Utes.

“I thought we were making pitching changes yesterday according to bad outcomes,” she said. “I thought we, one, stayed ahead of things, but, also, everyone did their job in a good way. You saw that we were able to be creative in certain scenarios.”

Tayler Biehl had two singles and a run on Sunday. She is hitting .278 on the season and has at least one hit in 11 of the past 13 games since an eight-game hitless slump in February.

Biehl said she focused on finding other ways to help her team on offense during that stretch.

“It wasn’t maybe getting on base, but it was still moving runners over and playing the game, and right now I’m able to cash in in a different way, which is nice,” she said. “So, I just keep chipping away and doing my thing and trusting my teammates have my back if I don’t get it done.”

Saya Swain got her second start of the season in the circle, and first since recording a win in four innings against Colorado State on Feb. 21.

The game was scoreless until the bottom of the third inning when Dakota Kennedy singled through the middle, scoring Biehl who had also singled and stole second before Kennedy brought her home.

Devyn Netz relieved Swain in the circle after Jolie Mayfield hit a leadoff single in the top of the fourth inning

With two outs Shelbi Ortiz singled, advanced Shonty Passi to third and stole second in the aftermath, but Hailey Deter would fly out left, getting Netz out of the jam.

A two-run home run from Miranda Stoddard in the bottom of the fourth inning that scored Sydney Stewart — who reached base on a walk — put Arizona up 3-0.

Netz gave up two singles with two outs in the top of the sixth inning, leading to Aissa Silva replacing her in the circle. Charlee-Rose Stevens flew out to right field for the final out in the frame. It was a redeeming moment for Silva, who gave up a grand slam to Utah in a relief appearance on Saturday.

Netz (10-2) returned to the circle and pitched a 1-2-3 inning in the seventh inning. She picked up her 10th win on the season, allowing five hits with one strikeout in 3 2/3 innings.

In three innings, Swain allowed two hits and had three strikeouts and two walks.

Arizona plays at Grand Canyon (22-3) on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
