Both of No. 13 Arizona’s games at San Diego State this weekend ended with a score of 1-0 with the Wildcats losing the second and last game between the teams Saturday.

Dakota Kennedy went 2 for 3, recording two of the three hits for Arizona (40-10) against San Diego State (30-16).

Arizona’s pitchers, Ryan Maddox and Devyn Netz, limited the Aztecs (30-16) to only five hits.

Maddox (3-1) had one of her best performances this season in the circle for the Wildcats, going 4 1/3 innings with four hits and an unearned run allowed. She struck out three and walked three.

Netz allowed only one hit in the last 1 2/3 innings with no strikeouts or walks.

Kennedy recorded Arizona’s first hit of the game with a single to lead off the fourth inning. San Diego State starter Grace Uribe (9-1) retired the next three batters.

Uribe allowed two hits in six innings with no walks and a strikeout for the victory.

In the latter half of the fifth inning, San Diego State pinch-hitter Gabriella Terrones led off with a walk, and Shannon Cunningham came in to pinch run for her. Cunningham moved to third on a single to right by Angie Yellen. Kaiah Altmeyer had trouble fielding the ball in right field, allowing Cunningham to reach third base.

Mia Rodriguez pinch ran for Yellen at first base. Bella Espinoza hit a ground ball to first base and Miranda Stoddard threw out Cunningham at home for the second out of the inning.

Rodriguez moved to second base on the play and Espinoza was at first after the fielder’s choice grounder.

Julie Holcomb followed with an infield single for her fifth hit of the weekend against Arizona. The hit was misplayed by Stoddard at first base, allowing Rodriguez to run from second and beat the throw home to give the Aztecs a 1-0 lead.

Kennedy singled up the middle with two outs in the top of the sixth but was left stranded.

Netz singled with one out in the seventh against reliever Cece Cellura but the game ended on a double play. Cellura earned her third save of the season.

Arizona will conclude its Big 12 regular-season schedule at Houston next weekend with the first game on Friday. The game starts at 4 p.m. and it will be on ESPN+.
