Devyn’s Weekly Roundup: I want my legacy to inspire those around me to pursue their dreams

Devyn Netz (Marison Bilagody / Arizona Athletics)

Howdy Wildcat fans,

I had someone recently ask me, what do you want your legacy to be as an Arizona softball player?

This question really took me back and made me think about my career as a Wildcat.

My story of becoming a Wildcat is none other than what one would pursue, but I consider myself to be the luckiest girl in the world. Why is that you might ask? Because not only has Arizona been the place I called home the past five years, but it has shaped me into the player and person that I am today. From my coaches and teammates to the people that I have met during my time here, they have supported me and have helped me grow as well. I am the luckiest girl in the world as this coaching staff took a chance on a girl who just wanted to play softball at the highest level with hopes and dreams to play on the biggest stage of college softball and compete for a national title. They saw a girl who just loved to play the game of softball and showed me how much the game can teach you when you respect it.

As far as my legacy, this lucky girl wants nothing but the best for the program that gave her everything and more. To the program that let me experience the highest highs and the lowest lows, every single moment has brought me to where I am today. The valuable lessons that I have learned along the way have humbled me and have taught me to be the best version of myself on and off the field. I want people to remember me as the girl who just loved to play softball. The girl who feels like her 8 year old self every time she steps on the field. The girl who never let people tell her what she could and couldn’t do. The girl who could do anything she put her mind to. The girl whose hard work, determination, and perseverance led her to her dream school. But most importantly, the girl whose faith was bigger than her fear of anything that she faced in life and on the field.

Overall, I want my legacy to inspire those around me to pursue their dreams no matter how big they are and show them how far their faith can get them when they trust God with the things that you love the most in this life!
