
Sunnyside wrestling great Roman Bravo–Young scored an impressive comeback victory Sunday over 2024 Olympic bronze medalist Aman Sehrawat of India before falling short in the championship match of Mongolian Ranking Series against Munkh Erdene Batkhuyag of Mongolia.
Bravo-Young, a four-time state champion at Sunnyside and two-time national titlist at Penn State, continues to gain success in international freestyle competition at 57 kilograms (125 pounds).
The Class of 2018 graduate of Sunnyside competed in the Olympics last summer for Mexico. Shortly thereafter, he joined the Oklahoma State Regional Training Center to train and serve as a trainer and mentor of Cowboy wrestlers.

Last month, Bravo-Young finished 3-0 for Team Mexico to earn a gold medal in the Pan-American Championships at Monterrey, Mexico.
In the Mongolian Ranking Series event at Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, Bravo-Young opened with a 12-2 technical-fall victory over Turkey’s Bekir Keser before facing Sehrawat.
He overcame an 11-6 deficit to pin Sehrawat right before the match ended, leading 14-11.
In the final match, Bravo-Young lost 6-3 to Batkhuyag in a close contest throughout.
