Salpointe Class of 2026 prospect Colton Raetzman capped off a productive month of May by hitting an inside-the-park home run in the 4A state championship game against Flagstaff, won by the Lancers 8-0 on May 19 in Tempe.

The home run, which also forced in a run, set the tone early for Salpointe, giving the Lancers a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first.

Raetzman, voted the 4A state player of the year by coaches, went 5 for 14 (.357) with three walks, seven runs, seven RBIs, two doubles and the home run in Salpointe’s playoff push in May.

For the season, he was either first or second on the team in eight different statistical categories, including first in stolen bases (13), runs (34) and fielding percentage (1.000 in center field). He was second on the team in on-base percentage (.529), hits (33), RBIs (33), doubles (eight), and triples (four).

For Raetzman’s overall performance, particularly his clutch performances in May en route to a state title, he is the Jet Sports Training Athlete of the Month for May.
