Tracking former Southern Arizona & Arizona Wildcats baseball players in pros (7/2)

NOTE: This is a compilation of stats involving players from Southern Arizona and the Pima Community College and Arizona Wildcats’ programs in MLB-sanctioned leagues (MLB and minor leagues). The list does not include players in foreign leagues or independent leagues in the US.

NOTES

  • Former Arizona infielder Scott Kingery was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake by the Los Angeles Angels on Monday after they reinstated outfielder Jorge Soler from the injured list (out since June 18 with lower-back inflammation). Kingery’s contract was selected June 11, but the utility player will return to Triple-A after going 2-for-9 (.222) with a stolen base and four strikeouts during his short stint. Kingery batted .373 with two home runs and 12 RBIs in 21 games with Salt Lake earlier this season before he was promoted to Los Angeles and became reunited with this former Arizona double-play partner Kevin Newman. Kingery is in his sixth year at the Triple-A level after spending the first five dating to 2017 with the Philadelphia Phillies’ affiliate Lehigh Valley (Pa.).
  • Former Arizona right-hander Clark Candiotti was placed on the 7-day injured list by the San Diego Padres’ Single-A+ affiliate Fort Wayne (Ind.). The injury is undisclosed. Candiotti is 1-5 with a 5.40 ERA in 10 starts with Fort Wayne. He has 43 strikeouts and 22 walks in 30 innings.
  • Former Arizona outfielder Chase Davis hit his second home run in three games with a two-run drive Tuesday for Double-A Springfield (Mo.) of the St. Louis Cardinals organization after hitting only one in the previous 21 games. Davis is trying to work through problems with his strikeouts. He had two of them Tuesday, giving him 80 already this season in 229 at-bats. He had 113 last year at Springfield, Single-A+ Peoria (Ill.) and Single-A Palm Beach (Fla.). In his last season with Arizona in 2023, had only 40 strikeouts in 57 games (221 at-bats).
