NOTES

— Less than three months after playing in the College World Series, former Arizona center fielder Aaron Walton belted his first professional home run with Single-A Lynchburg (Va.) of the Cleveland Guardians organization on Friday night. Walton belted a solo home run. He had 14 home runs in his only season with the Wildcats after hitting 15 over his first two seasons at Samford.

— Former Arizona right-hander Hunter Alberini had an effective outing Friday night in his first professional appearance with Single-A+ Quad City (Iowa) of the Kansas City Royals organization. He allowed two hits and a run in two innings of relief. He struck out three and walked one.

— Former Arizona right-hander Tylor Megill made his latest rehab start for Triple-A Syracuse of the New York Mets organization on Friday night and was dominant. After walking the first batter he faced, shut down Indianapolis (Pittsburgh Pirates) for three no-hit innings. Nick Yorke broke up the no-hit bid with a leadoff single in the fourth inning, but that would be the last baserunner against Megill. He threw 65 pitches (39 strikes) across five shutout innings, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out four. It was Megill’s third rehab start as he tries to make his way back from an elbow sprain.

— Former Arizona right-hander Austin Smith continues to be impressive with Double-A Hartford (Conn.) after his trade-deadline trade to the Colorado Rockies by the Atlanta Braves. He earned his second save with Hartford, and sixth overall this season, on Friday night. In eight appearances with Hartford, spanning 8 1/3 innings, he has a 1.08 ERA with five strikeouts and three walks.
