Marana standout senior quarterback Colten Meyer has 6,866 career passing yards in only 23 games played.
That’s almost 300 yards a game. He threw for 303 yards while completing 24 of 36 pass attempts in a 52-25 win against visiting Buena on Friday night in one of the top Week 6 games in Southern Arizona. He also had three touchdown passes.
At his rate, Meyer would need two playoff games to pass the current Southern Arizona record holder, former Sabino standout Cameron Hackworth.
Meyer did not play his freshman season and he only played seven games as a sophomore.
Former Marana standout Elijah Joplin (6,074 career yards) was a senior when Meyer was a freshman, and Jason Wood was a senior in 2023 when he and Meyer shared quarterback duties that year.
