Amphitheater High School senior infielder/pitcher Isabella Espinoza, who is a New Mexico State commit, is the second-leading batter in Southern Arizona with a .711 batting average (trailing Nogales’ Zendy Peralta, who is at .750). Espinoza is a niece of Arizona softball great Laura Espinoza and Amphi coach Irma Sonnek. Amphi’s season has concluded. Espinoza batted .711 in her career without striking out in 76 at-bats. Her career OPS (on-base percentage and slugging percentage) was an elite-level 1.900.
