Western beat Thornydale 16-1 Thursday night to advance to the Junior State Tournament to be held in Mesa starting July 6. The team from Murrieta Park will face Gilbert in the first round and the winner of the game will go up against Copper Hills on July 7. Western lost to Thornydale in the first round of the District 5 tournament on June 28 and the team battled back through the Elimination Bracket to beat Thornydale Wednesday night to set up the final game.
