Angel Charity for Children helped refinished the St. Augustine gym floor through an Opportunity Grant.
“This gift is about so much more than a new floor,” said Melissa Lopez Gruenhagen, president of St. Augustine Catholic High School in a release. “It has given our students a beautiful space that reflects the pride they have in their school and serves as a reminder that their larger community believes in them and in their future. We are deeply grateful to Angel Charity for Children for investing in our students and in the St. Augustine Catholic High School community.”
Former Walden Grove standout Gabriel Escalera named Hastings College head golf coach.
Gabe Escalera, who served as an assistant coach at Hastings College in the fall, finished third as a junior golfer in conference in 2024 and was second in his senior season, just two strokes behind first place. His five-under at the GPAC Tournament in 2025 tied for the best finish in Hastings history since 2015 and earned him a spot on the GPAC All-Tournament Team. Escalera was recognized on the All-GPAC Teams in each of his four years.
“I’m very grateful for this opportunity to build on the strong foundation already in place and continue pushing this program forward,” Escalera said in a release. “I’m also looking forward to developing the younger players so that they can play golf to their full potential. My athletes can expect a competitive environment that will test their preparation. The hard work will be done so that our fans can witness a team that competes with confidence and good sportsmanship.”
Ashlyn Quiri named to the AVCA Girls High School All-America Watch List
Ironwood Ridge standout Ashlyn Quiri was the only player from Southern Arizona named to the 2026 AVCA Girls High School All-America Watch List. In all, 13 seniors from Arizona made the Watch List. Quiri committed to play volleyball for Florida State.
