— Former Arizona OF Jared Oliva, who started the season on the San Francisco Giants’ MLB roster, was recently signed to a minor-league contract by the Tampa Bay Rays. He was assigned the Rays’ operations at the Florida Complex League. Injuries derailed his hope for a season in the MLB with the Giants. He was signed as a free agent by the New York Mets, who released him while he was at Triple-A Syracuse (N.Y.).
