The Tucson Roadrunners return to action this weekend when they host their annual Fan Fest and the preseason Southwest Showdown.
The first ever Southwest Showdown will feature the Roadrunners, the Colorado Eagles, the Henderson Silver Knights and the Texas Stars. The Eagles are the AHL affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche, the Silver Knights are the Vegas Gold Knights’ top minor league side and Texas is the Dallas Stars’ AHL team.
The weekend starts with the Fan Fest on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and is free. Fans can meet the Roadrunners, some of the Eagles and Silver Knights, play games and skate on the ice.
Then on Saturday the Southwest Showdown begins. It is the first time the Roadrunners have hosted preseason since 2021 and just the second time in their 10 years.
“Our organization is excited to welcome hockey fans from across the Southwest for a unique weekend that celebrates the start of a new AHL season,” said Roadrunners President Bob Hoffman in a press release. “Hosting the inaugural Southwest Showdown is a tremendous opportunity for Tucson, and we’re proud to bring together four outstanding organizations for what we believe will become a special preseason tradition.”
Southwest Showdown tickets are general admission (no assigned seating). Tickets for the afternoon games are $25 and the Roadrunners’ games are $30.
Day passes are available for $45 and two-day passes for all four games are $75.
