Arizona’s Winter Pac-12 All-Academic Athletes Total 43; Almost Entire Gymnastics Team Earns Honor

A total of 43 student-athletes from Arizona were recognized for their work in the classroom and were named to the Pac-12 Winter Academic Honor Roll.

The gymnastics team and the men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams comprised 37 of the 43 who earned Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll status. Five of the players were on the women’s basketball team and the other was men’s basketball player Stone Gettings, who transferred to Arizona from Cornell and studied toward a Master’s in Accounting.

Any student-athlete on his or her respective team roster with a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or above, and who has served at least one year in residence at the institution, is eligible to receive all-academic honors. There is no longer a selection process to determine all-academic teams for each sport.

The Winter Academic Honor Roll includes student-athletes who participated in the conference-sponsored sports of men’s and women’s basketball, gymnastics, and men’s and women’s swimming and diving.

The five players who made the honor roll from Adia Barnes‘ women’s basketball team are redshirt freshman Tara Manumaleuga (undeclared), sophomore Bryce Nixon (General Studies), sophomore Cate Reese (Pre-Business), senior Tee Tee Starks (Master’s in Educational Leadership) and junior Sam Thomas (Psychology). Nixon has since entered her name into the transfer portal.

The gymnastics team, coached by John Court, had 11 student-athletes on the list — almost his entire roster that is eligible to earn the honor.

Augie Busch, the men’s and women’s swimming and diving coach, had 26 members who earned Pac-12 All-Academic status. That is almost 70 percent of his roster eligible to earn the honor.
