The Thunderbolts are slated to begin varsity play in the 2022. They will field a junior varsity team in 2020 and 2021.
Mica Mountain will be part of the 4A Kino region along with CDO, Pueblo, Sahuaro and Casa Grande.
Al Alexander, a longtime Salpointe assistant who is now on Pat Nugent’s staff at Cienega, said last week he is slated to be part of Mica Mountain’s staff in 2022. A head coach has not been officially announced.
