Sabino senior quarterback A.J. Skaggs completed all nine of his pass attempts for 204 yards with two touchdowns in the Sabercats’ 61-7 win at Empire on Friday night.
Freshman backup Cameron Hackworth also connected on all four of his passes for 32 yards.

Through the first two games, Skaggs has completed 20 of 30 passes (66.7 percent) for 434 yards with five touchdowns and no interceptions.
Freshman D.J. Jaiman led the Sabercats with three receptions for 29 yards and junior Derek Sanchez had two catches for 58 yards.
Sanchez tallied three touchdowns on a reception, interception return and kickoff return (78 yards). He produced two interceptions.
Senior linebacker Luke Thompson topped the Sabercats with 10 tackles.
Marana 34, Tucson 27
Marana’s Isaiah Roebuck recorded two punt return for touchdowns and had seven catches for 92 yards while also achieving eight tackles and an interception.
Marana’s quarteback tandem of Elijah Joplin and Josh Roman combined for 304 yards while completing 27 of 38 passes with three touchdowns.
Joplin was 10 of 11 for 122 yards with a touchdown. He hurt his hand but coach Louie Ramirez said he should be good for next week’s game against CDO at home.
Roman was 17 of 27 for 182 yards and two touchdowns.
Sam Brown finished with eight receptions for 93 yards and two touchdowns.
Marana won its first game of the season to improve to 1-2. Tucson is now 1-1.

CDO (3-1) managed to win its third straight game without star running back Stevie Rocker, who missed the game with a right ankle injury that he suffered last week against Ironwood Ridge.
CDO coach Dustin Peace said Rocker “should be back this week” to prepare for the Dorados’ scheduled game at Marana on Friday.
Mountain View 35, Sahuaro 7
Mountain View senior running back Kollins Opoku-Appoh rushed for 147 yards on 16 carries with two touchdowns to lead the Mountain Lions to their first win of the season, bouncing back from last week’s season-opening loss to Salpointe.
Sahuaro dropped to 0-3 after suffering two last-second losses to Walden Grove and Sabino.
Mountain View quarterback Giovanni Ciaccio had 49 yards passing and 58 rushing, including a run of 42 yards.
Flowing Wells 36, Palo Verde 6
Flowing Wells achieved its first win of the season after opening with losses on the road against Sunnyside and Amphi, both of whom are a combined 5-0.

Benson topped Pima in a 2A state playoff play-in game behind two 40-yard fumble return for a touchdown by Mundo Esparza and Wyatt Wilharm.
Devin Bowling and Gabe Osuna each had 1-yard rushing touchdowns for the Bobcats, who are 7-0 and seeded No. 1 in the state tournament.
Santa Cruz 60, Veritas Prep 6
The Dust Devils, the No. 3-seeded team in the 2A playoffs, improved to 6-1 with the 2A play-in victory.
Wyatt Ogle had three touchdowns and Dylan Hukill and Steve Calvin each had two scores for Santa Cruz.
Ogle, a junior quarterback, rushed for two touchdowns and returned an interception 35 yards for a touchdown.
Calvin produced two 8-yard touchdown runs. Hukill had a 25-yard fumble return for a score in addition to a 3-yard touchdown run.
Ricardo Alaniz added a 75-yard rushing touchdown and Hunter Ogle scored on a 24-yard run.
Arizona Lutheran 41, Willcox 8
Willcox took the loss in the 2A state playoffs play-in game and finished its season with a 3-3 record under coach Alonzo Highsmith Jr., a former Arkansas and NFL running back.
