Sabino junior Derek Sanchez collected two interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown, returned a kickoff 78 yards for another TD and he pulled in a 36-yard TD reception to help lead the Sabercats past Empire Friday night.
For his efforts, Sanchez was named APS Digital Print/Frog & Firkin Player of the Week and he earned a banner for himself and for his school from APS Digital Print and a Frog & Firkin Football for his teammates to sign.
Sabino is now 2-0 on the year and the team is scheduled to host Walden Grove (3-0) this Saturday at noon.
