Pima College rallied from a 22-point deficit in the first half to take an 11-point lead in the second half but lost 101-99 on a last-second shot by Dallas College-Eastfield on Friday night in an NJCAA Division II Southwest District semifinal game at Dallas.
Hard to believe but Pima’s season ends after only five games — with a 3-2 record — after a four-month delay to the season starting March 18 because of COVID-19 protocol.
A 3-pointer and 3-point play by Joe Heath cut a seven-point deficit to 96-95 with 1:07 left against Eastfield.
Chris Lee hit a 3-pointer with 40 seconds left to put Pima ahead 98-97. He was later fouled with 19.8 seconds left and made one of two free throws.
Eastfield tied the game at 99 on two free throws by Geontay Davis with 5.9 seconds remaining.
On the ensuing inbound play, Eastfield stole the ball and Jamari Robertson made a jumper with a second to spare to win the game for Eastfield.
Really bummed our season is over. Would’ve went to war with these guys any day. Grateful that I got the chance to be an Aztec 🙏🏻🏀 here’s to a huge offseason now ⛹🏼

The Aztecs fell behind by 22 points in the first half at 44-22 but closed out the half on a 19-8 run to make it 52-41 at the break.
Pima went on a 21-3 run in the second half to take a 76-65 lead when Lee converted on a 3-point play with 10:06 left.
Eastfield countered with a 15-5 run in the next five minutes to cut Pima’s lead to 81-80. Eastfield would take a 96-89 lead before Heath’s 3-pointer and 3-point play with 1:07 left.
