Salpointe sophomore Kylie Wild won the 3200 (11:02.61) at the Division III state championships held at Phoenix Desert Vista on Friday. Her victory helped lead the Lancers 38 points and a second place spot heading into the final day one Saturday. Sabino is in third place with 34 points.
On the boy’s side, Salpointe is currently in seventh place with 12 points.
Wild won the state cross country title in the fall and Salpointe swept both cross country team championships.

Andy Morales was recognized by the AIA as the top high school reporter in 2014, he was awarded the Ray McNally Award in 2017, a 2019 AZ Education News award winner and he has been a youth, high school and college coach for over 30 years. He was the first in Arizona to write about high school beach volleyball and high school girls wrestling. His own children have won multiple state high school championships and were named to all-state teams.
