The Oro Valley Dolphins used a very successful ground game to get past the Tucson Wildcats at Ironwood Ridge High School Saturday morning 18-0. The Dolphins improved to 2-0 on the year.
Kaison Carey got things going for the Dolphins on a 17-yard dash to give his team a 6-0 lead early and then Brantley Felix sprinted 85 yards down the side to give the Dolphins a 12-0 to end the first quarter. Kaison, the son of former Canyon del Oro and University of Arizona standout Ka’Deem Carey, rushed for 115 yards on 10 carries and Brantley had 101 yards on eight tries.
The teams played back and forth the rest of the way until Felix scored again from six yards out to make it 18-0 late in the fourth quarter. Brenden Beturne gave the Dolphin defense all it could handle with 40 yards on four big carries but the Wildcats were unable to cash in on any scoring drives.
Zander Crouse, Kingston Jones and Joaquin Robles combined for 65 yards of offense for the Dolphins on the ground and Joshua Contreras, Simon Fraley and Daniel Vega saw action on offense for the Wildcats.
