Ironwood Ridge has hired Tucson native Dale Stott, who recently coached in St. George, Utah, as its new football coach, and Flowing Wells filled the same capacity welcoming back former offensive coordinator Brian Hook.
The news of the hirings came a week after Sahuaro filled its vacancy with Al Alexander.
Stott is a 1976 graduate of Amphi High School, where he was a standout defensive lineman.
While attending medical school at Arizona, Stott served as an assistant at Santa Rita from 1983-86. At that time, he was introduced to the field of pain management by the team doctor who was a physical medicine specialist.
Following medical school, Stott did his internship in family practice at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Phoenix followed by a three-year residency in Anesthesiology at the California-Davis Medical Center, where he was named Chief Resident. Stott later served on the clinical faculty at Utah’s Medical School. In 1998, he relocated to St. George, where he and his wife Deborah, a critical care registered nurse, founded Zion Pain Management Center.
Stott, a certified strength and conditioning coach, has served as an offensive line coach at St. George Pine View High School from 2003 to 2013 and then from 2019 until last season. In between, he served as coach of semipro teams in St. George. He also coached a team in Italy from December 2018 to August 2019.

Hook served on the staff of former Flowing Wells coach Mark Brunenkant for nine seasons as the offensive coordinator until Brunenkant resigned to become the school’s athletic director in 2019-20.
Hook filled in for Brunenkant for a game in 2016 when Brunenkant was attending the Air Force Academy’s Parent’s Weekend to be with his son.
In Brunenkant’s last season of 2018, the Caballeros led the 5A Sonoran averaging 35.9 points a game.
