The Arizona Wildcats completed a four-game sweep of the Wisconsin-Milwaukee Panthers with a come-from-behind 8-6 victory on Sunday morning.
The Chip Hale Era is off to a 7-1 start.
Arizona swept the four games series at Hi Corbett Field with a tally of 40 runs to Milwaukee’s 11. The Wildcats produced 53 hits in the series, 17 of them for extra bases.
The Wildcats have hammered 41 extra-base hits in eight games this year, good for an average of 5.1 extra-base hits per game.
Milwaukee (3-4) took an early lead Sunday with a run in the first inning and five runs in the second.
After the Panthers took a 6-4 lead, the Wildcats bullpen shut down their lineup the remainder of the game. Milwaukee was limited to just one hit while striking out five in the last 5 2/3 innings.
The Wildcats put together their game-winning rally in the fourth inning.
First baseman Noah Turley led off the inning with a solo home run, shortstop Nik McClaughry pushed across a run on a ground out, and catcher Daniel Susac and outfielder Tanner O’Tremba produced RBI singles. It was Susac’s RBI double, one of three doubles for the All-American in the game, that provided the go-ahead run.
Right-hander Josh Randall (1-0), who relieved starter Dawson Netz, earned the win after working 1 2/3 scoreless innings in which he did not allow a hit.
