Hello Wildcat fans!
I would like to extend a thank you on behalf of myself and the entire Arizona softball team for your undying support throughout this year’s regular season and going into the postseason. I would especially like to thank all those who attended the final game of the season at Rita. It was a special day for our three seniors: Peanut, Bailey, and Hanah being the last time they would ever play at Rita. We held a ceremony for them after the game, honoring the time they spent at Arizona and all of their accomplishments as students, athletes and leaders. The following day, the whole team went to Coach Cait’s house to watch the selection show. We had dinner and watched the selection show to find out which regional we were being sent to.

We were excited to see that we were being sent to Missouri to face Illinois in the first game and immediately started preparing. Our team never played in Missouri, so we were excited at the opportunity to play there. Most of the girls on the team have also never played in the postseason so I am excited for them to be able to experience the atmosphere of postseason softball.
We are so grateful for the support of our fans as we enter the postseason and we look forward to seeing our Arizona fans in the stands, holding it down for Arizona. We came up to Missouri a few days early to get acclimated to the climate, making sure we were ready for the weather. We also took the opportunity to do some team bonding while we’ve been here, going to team dinners and spending a lot more time together than usual when traveling.
We met our goal of winning the regional and gaining momentum going into the Super Regionals at Mississippi State. We plan on taking the postseason one game at a time, getting better with each win.
Carlie Scupin is a standout first baseman with the Arizona Wildcats under new coach Caitlin Lowe. She is a native Tucsonan recruited by legendary coach Mike Candrea since she was in middle school. She is a 2020 graduate of Tucson High School. Last season as a freshman, Scupin was a Pac-12 All-Freshman selection and an NFCA All-West Region third-team pick. As a junior at Tucson High, she was named the 2019 Arizona Gatorade Player of the Year. She was also selected to the USA Today All-America second team in 2019. She hit 44 home runs while hitting .623 during her high school career, which was cut short her senior season of 2020 due to COVID-19.
