Mountain View is in the 5A Southern Region and the program will have 10 games on the inaugural schedule. The first set of rankings are slated to be released on Sep. 26 and the top 16 ranked teams in each of the two conferences will advance to the state playoffs.
Head coach Jane Holtman Nova is probably one of the most experienced flag football coaches in the state with experience coaching her son for several years when her family lived in Washington. The timing of Nova being on campus as a biology teacher at the same time the AIA introduced flag football almost seems like too much of a coincidence.
“I believe we have a lot of interest on campus,” Nova said heading into tryouts. “I knew I wanted to get into coaching here at Mountain View at some capacity so it was great this sort opened up. We will see what talent we have but I’m going to focus on positive attitudes and good sportsmanship.”

Named one of “Arizona’s Heart & Sol” by KOLD and Casino del Sol, Andy Morales was recognized by the AIA as the top high school reporter in 2014, he was awarded the Ray McNally Award in 2017 and a 2019 AZ Education News recognition.
