Rincon/University junior cross country runner Amelia North was the highest Southern Arizona finisher in Saturday’s AIA state meet at the 5,000-meter course at the Cave Creek Golf Course, placing 10th with a personal-best time of 19:20.57.
She placed first in the AIA-Sectional last week in a time of 19:25.7 at the 5,000-meter course at Crossroads Park.
North also had second-place finishes in October at the Eye of the Tiger meet in Marana and the TUSD City Championships at Reid Park.
Her overall performance in October leading up to Saturday’s 10th-place finish in the state meet merits her the Jet Sports Training Athlete of the Month Award for October.
