Brasen Briones’ performance on Oct. 28 was crucial to Ironwood Ridge winning a consecutive state championship and third overall.

Briones, a senior, birdied the last two holes with clutch putts to score a 4-under par 68 at the Aguila Golf Course in Laveen Village.

The winner between Ironwood Ridge and Notre Dame Prep was determined in a scorecard playoff after both squads came in with identical scores of 580 (+4) after the two-day event.

Briones, who won the D-II individual title in 2021, finished fifth this year with a two-round score of 141.

He is bound for Pacific on a golf scholarship.

Based on his clutch performance in the state championship and success overall, Briones is the Jet Sports Training Male Athlete of the Month for October.
