Local soccer standout Deshnick Nkeh is headed to Portugal through the US Club Soccer iD2 Selection program. According to information from Gabe Rocha’s 2010 Orange Crush (FC Sonora) team, Nkeh was selected after a lengthy selection process that included camps and regional combines to select the best players from across the nation.
Nkeh started with a three-day domestic camp in Newark to prepare for action in Lisbon Portugal to play against some of the best Portuguese youth academies in Sporting Lisbon and FC Porto. Nkeh is part of 18 athletes selected from 14 clubs across 10 states.
In the match today, Nkeh recorded an assist in the 51st minute and he scored in the 65th to help US Club Soccer defeat Sporting Clube de Portugal 3-0. The team will play FC Porto on Thursday and Lomarense GC on Friday. The team beat Real Sport Clube 3-0 on Sunday to open up the competition.
