Pusch Ridge quarterback Jacob Newborn was highly effective passing, running and playing in the defensive secondary in the Lions’ 42-14 win over 3A South rival Sabino last week at Pusch Ridge.
Newborn completed his first 10 passes en route to a 15-of-19 performance for 287 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions.
He also rushed for a 48-yard touchdown and returned an interception 27 yards for a touchdown playing safety.
For his performance, which helped Pusch Ridge improve to 5-1 overall, Newborn is the Week 7 APS Digital Print/Frog & Firkin Player of the Week. Newborn and Pusch Ridge coach Kent Middleton will each receive a banner honoring his player of the week selection.
APS Digital Print is owned by relatives and close family friends of former Salpointe standout Bijan Robinson, now with the Atlanta Falcons.
