CDO coach Scott McKee, who took on challenging positions at Pueblo and Sahuaro, is in the playoffs in his first season after replacing Dustin Peace as head coach. Peace resigned after CDO won the state championship and finished 14-0 last season. … McKee took Sahuaro to the playoffs eight of his 13 years he was the Cougars’ head coach from 2009 to 2021. His playoff record was 3-8. The furthest he went into the playoffs was the 2018 4A semifinals, where the Cougars lost to Salpointe. … CDO has faced Snowflake once before and it was on the road — in the 4A semifinal round two years ago. The Dorados lost 16-13 in overtime after leading by 10 points early in the fourth quarter. .
