The Tucson Turf Elite 12U Chargers went 8-0 in the prestigious NFL FLAG Championships at Canton, Ohio, capped by a 13-12 victory July 20 in the title game over six-time defending champion Red Zone All Stars Falcons of Miami.
Emeron Bourguet, son of Tucson Turf founder Toby Bourguet, was a significant contributor to the unbeaten run and victory in the championship.
In the win over the Red Zone All Stars, Emeron completed a touchdown pass to Trindon Brin to tie the game at 6 late in the first half, caught a touchdown pass from Logan Allen with only 5 minutes left and subsequently hauled in the extra-point pass from Allen to give the Chargers their 13-12 lead.
In the quarterfinal round, Emeron caught a thrilling last-second touchdown pass from Allen to give the Chargers a 13-12 victory over the Yorkville (Ill.) Commanders.
Emeron is the youngest sibling of the famed Bourguet football family that includes brothers Trenton, Treyson, Coben and Kendren and sister Rylen.
Trenton, Treyson and Coben had a Tucson Turf background before becoming Division I players — Trenton and Coben at Arizona State and Treyson at Western Michigan and BYU.
