Darick Hall, Buena Class of 2013

NOTES

— Former Buena standout first baseman Darick Hall, who turned 30 on July 25, was released by the Pittsburgh Pirates from their Triple-A club at Indianapolis on Wednesday. He was batting .211 with an OPS (on-base percentage and slugging percentage) of .607, well below his career nine-year minor-league production of .800. He played parts of two years in the big leagues with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2022 and 2023. After graduating from Buena in 2013, he attended Cochise College before transferring to Dallas Baptist. The Phillies signed him in 2016 after selecting him in the 14th round of the MLB Draft. He advanced to the majors on June 29, 2022. His first three career MLB hits were home runs. He is the career home run leader for the Phillies’ Triple-A affiliate, the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, with 70. He signed a minor-league deal with the Pirates in December after he was granted free agency from the Phillies.

— Former Arizona right-hander Kevin Ginkel’s season is over after the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday moved him from the 15-day injured list to 60-day IL with a sprained right shoulder. Ginkel finished with a 7.36 ERA and 1.64 WHIP in just 29 appearances, because of injuries and a Triple-A option due to his early-season struggles.
