OPEN DIVISION/6A RANKINGS
6A (12-team bracket): The Open Division state tournament bracket consists of the top 12 teams in 6A based on their power ratings. After qualifying teams are added to the Open Division state tournament bracket and removed from the conference rankings, teams ranked Nos. 13-20 will play a first-round game. First-round winning teams will advance to the 6A quarterfinals to face teams that lost in the Open Division first round. The state tournament bracket will be re-seeded according to individual AIA ranking of the teams and first-round results. The state tournament will consist of four (4) rounds and be single elimination.

Salpointe plays at No. 8 Phoenix Pinnacle on Friday, which means the Lancers could move back into the Open Division (the 12 top teams), win or lose, because the Lancers are playing a highly-rated team.
The No. 14 Lancers were rated in the Open Division in the first three weeks of the ratings.
Now, if the season ended today, Salpointe would host No. 19 Surprise Shadow Ridge in the first round of the 6A playoffs. If the Lancers win that game, they would potentially play a team that lost in the Open Division in the quarterfinal round.
