
The Pima Community College women’s basketball team earned its sixth straight win on Wednesday, returning to ACCAC play at South Mountain in Phoenix with a 103-34 victory.
The No. 6 Aztecs (8-2, 2-0 in ACCAC) opened the game on a 41-2 run that carried into the first three minutes of the second quarter against Cougars (3-6, 0-4).
Pima held the Cougars to two points in the first quarter and one point in the third quarter.
Sophomore Melicia Nelson finished the game with a triple-double of 11 points, 13 rebounds and 13 assists. She fell short of a quadruple double as she had seven steals. Nelson only had one turnover.
Sophomore Kiley Sours-Miller scored a team-high 20 points on 10-for-12 shooting from the field and also had six rebounds, two steals and three blocks.
Sophomore Lucy Land and freshman Reigne Waugh each scored 15 points. Waugh added six rebounds, two assists and one steal. Land was 7 for 12 from the field.
Freshman Nevaeh Urenda (Flowing Wells) went 3 for 5 from beyond the arc and contributed with 11 points and four steals off the bench. Freshmen Lucy Fisher had eight points and eight rebounds while Kahlia Gonzales had eight points and four assists.
The Aztecs will be back at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium on Saturday when they host Glendale in an ACCAC game. Tip-off is at 2 p.m.
