The Pima Community College men’s basketball team handed South Mountain its first ACCAC loss of the season and remained undefeated behind Isaiah Hill’s 31 points on seven 3-pointers in an 82-61 win Wednesday at Phoenix.

The No. 10 Aztecs (9-0, 2-0 ACCAC) built a double-digit advantage in the first half and maintained it over the Cougars (10-2, 3-1).

Pima’s 82 points scored is the lowest total in the first nine games of the season.

Up 10-8, the Aztecs used a 15-4 run as sophomore Isaac Johnson’s basket made it 25-12 with 11:19 left in the first half.

Hill, who began his high school career at Pueblo and ended at Premier Prep Academy, scored five points in the run but later had a stretch of scoring 16 of Pima’s 21 points to make it 42-20.

Hill hit five 3-pointers in the first half. The Aztecs led 50-28 at halftime with Hill having 21 points.

The Aztecs led by as many as 30 points on three occasions in the second half.

Hill scored a team-high 31 points on 12-for-16 shooting from the field. He was 7 for 8 from 3-point range. He also had three rebounds and three assists.

Sophomore Brock Mendoza scored 12 points as he was 4 for 6 from the field and had six rebounds.

Freshman Will Feagles added 11 points after he was 3 for 6 from beyond the arc.

Sophomore Mason Hunt scored five points in the second half and dished out nine assists.

Freshman Gerron Graham had eight points, four rebounds and four assists off the bench.

Johnson contributed with seven points and six rebounds.

The Aztecs went 29 for 54 (53.7 percent) from the field and 13 for 22 (59.1 percent) from three-point range.

The Aztecs will return to the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium on Saturday when they host Glendale. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m.
