Senior Night for Cholla’s Jerry Mendoza will be a memorable one as he eclipsed 1,000 career points on Thursday night in a victory over Amphi.
Mendoza surpassed the 1,000 mark on a 3-pointer that sent him, hist teammates and the crowd at Cholla into a frenzy. He rushed to the stands to embrace members of his family after making the shot.
He finished with 36 points, giving him 1,001 for his career.
The Chargers (12-3) are ranked No. 11 in the state among 4A teams. They next play at Douglas on Monday night.
