Arizona ends Bear Down Fiesta with another run-rule victory



No. 15 Arizona closed the Bear Down Fiesta with an 8-0, six-inning run-rule victory over Creighton on Sunday at Hillenbrand Stadium.

The Wildcats (8-3) scored eight runs on 10 hits and drew four walks against the Bluejays.

Emma Kavanagh, Sereniti Trice, and Sydney Stewart recorded two hits each while Kavanagh led the team with three RBIs.

Arizona opened the game with five runs in the first inning to take an early lead over Creighton (3-7).

The first two runs came across on a single from Tayler Biehl and a double from Stewart. Kavanagh hit a two-run single and Jenna Sniffen drove in the fifth run of the inning with a single to left field.

In the fourth inning, the Wildcats plated two more on an RBI single from Stewart and an RBI fielder’s choice from Grace Jenkins to take a 7-0 lead.

Kavanagh walked off Creighton with an RBI single to left-center to secure the win.

In the circle, Jalen Adams pitched a complete game to improve to 3-1. She limited Creighton to two hits and struck out one.

Arizona will next welcome Nevada for a midweek matchup on Tuesday at 5 p.m. at Hillenbrand Stadium before heading to the DeMarini Invitational hosted by Stanford next weekend.
