Jet Sports Training Male Athlete of the Month: Sahuarita wrestler Marcus Killgore

Marcus Killgore followed his Division III, Section IV title at 159 pounds with his second consecutive Division III championship, culminating a 57-0 season for the Sahuarita sophomore.

Killgore’s perfect season included seven first-place finishes, none greater than his state championship earned Feb. 21 at Phoenix’s Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

His championship run in the Division III state tournament:

— First round technical fall victory (19-4) in 1:16 over Devin Whalen of Phoenix Greenway

— Quarterfinal technical fall victory (17-2) in 1:07 over Ashton Angel of The Odyssey Institute in Buckeye

— Semifinal fall victory in 1:30 over Flagstaff Coconino’s Kaden Clinger

— Championship technical fall victory (21-4) victory in 5:33 over Sahuaro’s Christian Marsh

His victory helped Sahuarita win the Division III boys wrestling state championship for the fifth consecutive season.

Killgore, voted one of the outstanding wrestlers of the Diego Gadea Salpointe Invitational in late January, has earned the Jet Sports Training Male Athlete of the Month for February for his dominant run to another state championship and a 57-0 record.
