Pima Community College softball will keep its rich history alive attracting top-notch local talent, evidenced by the signing Thursday of Salpointe standouts Sarah Camp, CC Moraga and Soli Ramos.

It was also reported this week by AllSportsTucson.com’s Andy Morales that Mountain View standouts Anyssa Bojorquez, a second baseman, and Arianna Figueroa, a pitcher.

Camp is batting .344 with a home run, three doubles and 11 RBIs, Moraga is at .309 with a home run, five doubles and 23 RBIs. Ramos is hitting .349 with two home runs, a triple, three doubles and 10 RBIs.

The Lancers are 21-4 overall and champions of the 4A Kino region with an 8-0 record.

Moraga’s mother Selina Encinas is a former Pima College softball player. Her father Omar Moraga was a standout with the Arizona baseball program.

Her great grandfather Joe Palomarez, who is 94, was a notorious men’s fastball softball pitcher with the Tuscon Rattlers, with whom he pitched with into his 60s.

Bojorquez is batting .458 with four home runs, four triples, nine doubles and 19 RBIs

Figueroa is 17-3 with a 2.31 ERA. She has 161 strikeouts and 50 walks in 112 innings.

Mountain View is 18-3 overall and the 5A Sonoran champion with a 9-0 record.

Pima, which has advanced to the NJCAA Division II World Series the last two seasons, presently is 41-6 overall and leads the ACCAC Division II with a 33-5 record.

The Aztecs feature 18 players from Southern Arizona on their roster, including Figueroa’s sister Clarissa, an infielder who also hails from Mountain View and is batting .390 with a home run, triple, 20 doubles and 37 RBIs.
